About Goodly Foods Society

Goodly Foods is a social enterprise that makes delicious soups, stews and sauces by repurposing surplus produce and creating unique community employment opportunities. We work closely in partnership with other local businesses such as Commissary Connect and Hope Action Values Ethics (HAVE) Culinary Training Society.

Goodly Foods began as a joint initiative between the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Fulmer Capital Partners, Inc. During the pilot phase we developed, tested and refined our soup recipe and distributed 572 litres of soup to local organizations and Food Bank members and provided over 90 employment hours for supported roles. We partnered with celebrated local Chef Karen Barnaby (former GVFB Board Member) to bring her passion for reducing food waste to creating our nutritious and delicious foods as our Product Development Chef.

The pilot was made possible through funding from Fulmer Capital Partners Inc. and Vancity’s enviroFund™ Program, in-kind brand development from Rethink Communications, donations of surplus produce from the Star Group, Fresh Direct Produce, BC Fresh and Fresh Start Foods, and donations of small wares from Gordon Food Service.

In January 2019, Goodly Foods began production and distribution of our first product, a Hearty Tomato Vegetable Soup, thanks to a generous investment grant from the Walmart Foundation as well as support from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Fulmer Capital Partners Inc.

Moving forward as the newly established Goodly Foods Society, we are proud to be an anchor tenant in B.C.’s first Regional Food Hub while working closely with our production and employment partners, suppliers, Chef Barnaby and our highly skilled production team to produce products that are delicious and nutritious.

We are also proud to announce that we have received certification that demonstrates our commitment to food safety through the completion of the Supplier Assurance – Food Manufacturing audit.

Our current suite of products, which are all plant based and use only a few simple ingredients to create flavours that are clean, classic and comforting, include: Hearty Tomato Soup, Simply Squash Soup, Beautiful Beet Soup, and Purely Potato Soup.

All of our Goodly™ branded soups are available for purchase to buying partners in both retail and grocery outlets as well as to institutions and food service providers. A portion of every batch of soup made continues to be donated to local charities and food banks across Metro Vancouver.

Working closely with our supplier partners and Chef Barnaby, we are now in production of our next generation of branded soups, stews and sauces. We can’t wait for you to try them!
